Claremont Savings Bank plays valuable role in Kiwanis Cares

Dec 22, 2009 -  With the assistance of Claremont Saving Bank, the Kiwanis Club is again able to provide the spirit of the season to those in need this holiday. This is the second year Kiwanis has taken the lead role in raising funds and organizing gift giving to the deserving families in the Claremont area.  Seven-hundred forty-four recipients will be receiving gifts from this project.
Kiwanis works with many organizations, including Toys for Tots, Valley Regional Hospital, local businesses, local realtors, local churches, school personnel, and Claremont Savings Bank staff, to collect toys and clothing for the gift-giving event.
To help the effort, Claremont Savings Bank provided space on the third floor of its main office for the collection of many items. The Bank was used as a drop off center for donations, as well as place volunteers could arrange and organize gift bags for recipients.
Kathy Conant and Sally Asanowicz spent many hours keeping track of and receiving donations from the wide variety of contributors, and providing Bank access for the deliveries.   Justin Provost created a spreadsheet that was invaluable in creating lists of recipients with their particular needs.
Julie Martin and Terri Decker acted as hosts for recipients on the day of distribution when the recipients came to the Bank to get their packages.
Sharon, Heidi and Sherwood are Kiwanians themselves and were the links between the Bank’s efforts and the needs of Kiwanis.
Shown in the picture are, L to R:  Sharon Carnevale, Justin Provost, Sherwood Moody, Sally Asanowicz, and Heidi Miller.  Missing from the picture is Kathy Conant.
